Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has sung the praise of Omar Marmoush after he scored in their 2-0 Premier League win against Leicester City at Etihad on Wednesday.

First-half goals from Jack Grealish and Marmoush were enough to secure the home victory against the Foxes. Poor goalkeeping from Mads Hermansen opened the door for Marmoush to bury Man City’s second goal of the first half.

The Premier League champions bossed the game from start to finish, with the relegation-threatened Leicester unable to respond and opting instead for damage limitation.

“Omar [Marmoush] has a good sense, good numbers for the short time he’s been with us,” said Guardiola after the game. “He’s dynamic, good at pressing, and I’m really pleased for him!

“He can play as a striker. Phil Foden can play there, Macca [James McAtee] can play there, Oscar Bobb can play there. There are players I can use in that position. But he [Marmoush] likes to play close to the box, loves to score, and has a real sense for goal.”

So far this season, the Egypt international has featured eight times for Man City, scoring five league goals but is yet to provide an assist.
