Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has advised goalkeeper Andre Onana to build on his performance in Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League 5-4 win over Lyon.

The Portuguese manager urged the Cameroonian to replicate his form of the Lyon game and be ready for the Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

“I think he did really well, so he did a good game and he has to continue to do good games, and I am really happy for him because it was a tough moment, but let's move forward. Now he has to be ready for next game,” Amorim told United media.

The Cameroonian’s performance has been under heavy scrutiny after his errors gifted the French Ligue 1 side two goals in the 2-2 draw against United in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal, first leg match last week.

The 29-year-old custodian was dropped from the playing squad that lost 4-1 to Newcastle United in a Premier League match on Sunday. During the fixture at St. James’ Park, Altay Bayindir was preferred to start, but he too was far from convincing.

Onana crawled his back into United’s starting XI that booted Lyon out of the UEFA Europa League. On another note, the Manchester United head coach also provided an update on Moroccan defender Nous Mazraou who was substituted at half time during the Lyon game.

“He is available, he has personal issues like Nous, so we had to let him go. But everything is okay now, and I know football is important, but some things are more important. They will be ready to face Wolves in the next game,” he said.

United are smarting from a 4-1 loss to Newcastle United last weekend, whereas Wolves thrashed Tottenham Hotspur.
