Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush showed another excellent performance for Manchester City, playing a crucial role in their 2-2 draw against Brighton in Matchday 29 of the English Premier League.
Marmoush was productive in the game, scoring a goal and earlier winning a penalty that led to the opener to directly contribute to both of City’s goals. However, despite his efforts, City had to settle for a draw which left them in fifth place in the league standings with 48 points—just one behind fourth-placed Chelsea who have a game in hand.
Marmoush’s reaction
Speaking to Manchester City’s official website after the game, the Egyptian forward said that he wasn't having the best feeling despite the two goal contributions.
According to his club's official website, Marmoush said:
“The players and the staff are amazing here,” he said. "I’m just trying to learn everything that I can and listen to the coach and everything that he tells us.
“I scored the goal today, but in the end, it wasn’t enough for the three points, so it’s not the best feeling. We’ll keep going.”
Since joining Manchester City, Marmoush has now scored four goals including a hat-trick against Newcastle United.
With only the top four teams securing a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, the battle for qualification remains unfinished. Manchester City currently sits in fifth place, just one point behind Chelsea and another point above Newcastle United and Brighton. Chelsea and Newcastle United each have a game in hand.
Marmoush clarified that the team will spare no effort:
“It’s a challenge, but we will do everything,” he said. "We will put our head down and try to work as hard as we can. Always when we’re on the pitch, give 100% and hopefully in the end we will secure that place... We have to try to show our quality more, have more confidence on the ball, keep the ball more, and just do what Manchester City always did.”
