Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango has called on the club’s top brass to give coach Nasreddine Nabi more time to build a strong team for the future.

The Tunisian coach joined Amakhosi at the start of the current season but his side has been blowing hot and cold in the Betway Premiership where they are currently out of the title race as they sit eighth on the league table.

However, Chiefs can end the season with a trophy if they manage to beat rivals Orlando Pirates in the final of the Nedbank Cup on May 10. They reached the stage after eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the semi-finals of the domestic competition.

“I think for any new coach, coming into a new club, whether it Kaizer Chiefs or any other club, you need to make the team play according to your standard and culture of the club,” said Masango as quoted by idiskitimes.

“So I think it was a matter to integrate the players and understanding what coach Nabi wants. As a coach and how he wants to play… also with bringing in new players into the environment, maybe some are still young and have not won anything.

“So with Nabi trying to integrate that them and cooking for the country to be happy. So let’s continue, it takes time to cook you now, if he can carry on with what he’s doing, I think we can have a happy country.”

Chiefs, who have garnered 31 points from 25 matches, will next take on Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
