Kenya international Masoud Juma scored his first goal for Esteghlal FC as they battled to a 1-1 draw against second-placed Sepahan FC in an Iranian Pro League fixture on Thursday.
Esteghlal under South African coach Pitso Mosimane took the lead in the 22nd minute when Juma, who plays for Kenya’s national team Harambee Stars, capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot the ball home.
Despite Sepahan being reduced to 10 men with five minutes left, Esteghlal couldn't capitalize on the advantage. Musa Limouchi ensured Sepahan went home with a vital goal after he scored the equalizer in the 74th minute.
Since joining Esteghlal, Juma has now played in three straight league matches. The draw saw Esteghlal remain 10th in the league table with 18 points after 15 games. They have managed four wins, six draws and five defeats.
