Mathare United head coach John Kamau has promised to strengthen the squad with new signings when the FKF Premier League transfer window opens.

The ‘Slum Boys’ registered their fifth win of the campaign following a hard fought 1-0 result against visiting Shabana on Saturday. Brian Ouru scored the all-important goal in the 35th minute to inflict Tore Bobe their fifth defeat of the season.

“I don’t like giving excuses, today (Saturday) we played with our first eleven after a very long time and it is visible what we can do at full strength. We are a match for anyone when fully healthy. The task now is to improve on our squad depth,” he told Pan-Africa Football.

“After every 72 hours we have a match and some players get fatigued, we should now concentrate on our depth, the win was good for us, we deserved it, the most important thing is for the players to go and celebrate with their families.”

The win enabled Mathare to move to 10th on the 18-team league table with 19 points from 15 matches. They have managed five wins, four draws and six defeats. Meanwhile the defeat saw Shabana drop to position seven with 20 points from 15 matches.
