After settling for a draw earlier in the week, Sudanese giants Al Hilal moved to within five points of league leaders FC Nouadhibou in Mauritania's top flight Super D1 with a 3-0 victory over Inter Nouakchott on Sunday evening.

Sudan national team forward Yaser Mozamil opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an easy finish from a cross by Abdel Raouf before Inter Nouakchott completely self destructed. A red card in the 23rd minute made the task much easier for Hilal, who doubled their lead just before halftime when rising 18-year-old starlet Yaser Awad finished from the right wing.

Senegalese midfielder Madické Kane finished the scoring in the 65th minute with a free kick from distance. By that point the result was no longer in doubt after Inter Nouakchott received a second red card ten minutes earlier.

Al Hilal are now five points back of league leaders FC Nouadhibou who could only manage a 1-1 draw with Tevragh-Zeina. Al Hassan Eid leveled the match for Nouadhibou in the 82nd minute after the defending champions fell behind earlier in the second half.

Hilal and Nouadhibou will be in action next weekend as the 2024-25 season moves into the second half. Hilal have played four less matches than their title rivals, giving the CAF Champions League quarterfinalists a significant advantage in their pursuit of the club that has won Mauritania's top flight for the last seven championships.
