MC Alger coach Patrice Beaumelle discussed the upcoming match against Tanzanian side Young Africans in CAF Champions League group stages. The reigning Algerian champions will host Young Africans in the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage with the Group A clash scheduled to kick off at 7 PM GMT.
Beaumelle stated, in remarks made on Friday and reported by the website of Algerian media outlet Ennahar TV: “Young Africans is a team used to playing in the CAF Champions League and going far in this competition.”
He added: “We will be playing on our home ground so we are required to confirm the point we earned from the TP Mazembe match.”
Regarding their opponent, Beaumelle said: “Young Africans relies on collective play and short passes, and they have highly skilled players with a lot of experience. Their defeat in the first match with a 2-0 score does not reflect the value of this team as they performed at a high level.”
Beaumelle concluded: “We must give our best in this match, to perform at the required level and achieve victory, in order to reach our goal of advancing past the group stage.”
MC Alger drew 0-0 with TP Mazembe in the first round from Group A while Young Africans lost to Sudanese side Al-Hilal 2-0.
