Algerian Ligue 1 holders MC Alger are on the verge of parting ways with head coach Patrice Beaumelle. The French coach led the Algiers club to Algeria's Ligue 1 crown in the 2023-24 season but defeat at home on Saturday in the CAF Champions League against Al Hilal of Sudan made his future at the club questionable.
MC Alger convened a board meeting on Sunday as club president Hadj Radjem and other board members decided on the fate of Beaumelle. The former Ivory Coast head coach renewed his contract last summer and it looks like he will not be able to continue to serve MC Alger in 2025 with the Champions League home defeat to Hilal seeming like the final nail in the coffin.
According to La Gazette du Fennec, Beaumelle will be paid a severance payment. MC Alger are expected to name a new head coach in the coming days.
MCA are second in their Champions League group with four points, 5 points shy of leaders Al Hilal, with TP Mazembe on two points and Young Africans on one point.
