Ahead of their Betway Premiership fixture against SuperSport United on Saturday, Polokwane City FC head coach Phuti Mohafe has raised concerns with the team’s finishing problems.
‘Rise and Shine’ will head into the fixture having only managed to score three goals from the last four league matches. The goals came in the 3-1 win against Richards Bay at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on March 30.
The other three matches have seen them lose 2-0 against Sekhukhune United, 1-0 against Orlando Pirates, and 2-0 against Chippa United.
“It’s a worrying factor. Sometimes I wish that you could come into our [training] sessions and see what we are doing in terms of finishing, going into the opposition half and creating those chances and scoring,” said Mohafe as quoted by FARPost.
“But coming to the match is a different story. I really don’t know what is happening with our finishing, but we will continue working on that. It worries us, but at this moment in time, we should be more worried about getting positive results than worried about sliding down,” he added.
“If you can get one win, then maybe things will change for the better. But I think with the attitude of the guys, we just need to work on it and see what happens in the next matches.”
Polokwane are currently sitting sixth on the 16-team log with 34 points from 25 matches. They have secured nine wins, seven draws and suffered nine defeats.
