Al Ahly captain Mohamed El-Shenawy emphasized that Ivorian side Stade d’Abidjan is a formidable and distinguished opponent with strong players in various positions.
Al Ahly will play away against Stade d'Abidjan on Saturday at 4:00 PM GMT in the fifth round of the CAF Champions League group stage in a Group C clash.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference as quoted by Al Ahly’s official website, El-Shenawy stated: "We are preparing well for the game, and at Al Ahly, we have always been accustomed to respecting all the teams and opponents we face in different competitions. The technical staff is working meticulously to prepare for the match alongside the players, and we aim to deliver our best performance during the game.”
El-Shenawy continued: "We always close the chapter on any previous game and shift our focus entirely to the next one. The clash against Stade d’Abidjan is crucial in our journey in the competition. Our goal is to qualify as group leaders. While we have two remaining matches, our main focus is on tomorrow’s encounter.”
He also highlighted: "The Ivorian league features intense competition with excellent stadiums that recently hosted the Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, the Ivorian national team is one of the strongest in the continent boasting players who compete in the world’s top leagues.”
