
Tunisian coach Mohamed Sahli has officially declined the opportunity to join the Tunisian national team’s technical staff as an assistant coach.
The Tunisian Football Federation had previously announced the appointment of Sami Trabelsi as the national team’s head coach and announced a future meeting with Mohamed Sahli to discuss his potential role within the coaching staff.
However, Sahli decided not to accept the position and made his decision public today.
Mohamed Sahli’s Official Statement
Mohamed Sahli addressed his decision through an official statement on his Facebook account, where he expressed gratitude and extended his wishes of success to the coaching staff. His post read:
"I would like to express my deep gratitude for the trust placed in me by the Tunisian Football Federation and for the valuable opportunity to serve my country. Unfortunately, I must apologize for my inability to accept the assigned role. I appreciate everyone's understanding and wish all those involved success in their upcoming endeavors.
I will always remain a strong supporter of efforts aimed at advancing football in our country, and my love for Tunisia will never waver. I especially wish the esteemed and honorable coach, Sami Trabelsi, and all members of the coaching staff great success in carrying our nation’s flag high. I also hope that all fans, regardless of their colors, stand united under the national banner.

New technical staff for Tunisia
Alongside Sami Trabelsi’s appointment as head coach, the Tunisian Football Federation has confirmed Hamadi Daou as the assistant coach. The federation had initially planned to discuss the same role with Mohamed Sahli before he declined it.
Trabelsi has assembled a coaching staff, which includes:
Hamadi Daou – Assistant coach
Aymen Jedidi & Wassim Maala – Physical preparation and development.
Hichem Jaziri – Goalkeeping coach.
Helmi El-Kachou & Walid Ben Mansour – Tactical analysts.
Official announcement at press conference
The full technical staff lineup will be officially unveiled during a press conference led by Sami Trabelsi and sporting director Ziad Jaziri on Friday, February 14, 2025. The event will take place at the National Technical Department’s press room, starting at 11:00 AM.
Tunisia’s road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Crucial matches in March
As part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Tunisia is will have two matches in March 2025. The team will face Liberia away from home on March 17h, followed by a home fixture against Malawi on March 24th in Matchdays 5 and 6 of the qualifiers.
