Former Ghana defender John Mensah has urged AS Monaco centre-back Mohammed Salisu to consider a return to on of Europe's elite leagues.

Mensah, who played for Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais from 2008 and 2012, believes the former Southampton guardsman has the potential to fit into any of the top leagues like the English Premier League, the Bundesliga and La Liga where he once played for Real Valladolid.

Mensah, whose career stints include time spent at Sunderland, Chievo Verona, Rennes along with loan spells at Genoa, Modena and Cremonese, lauded Salisu's qualities and also urged him to consider returning to the Premier League.

“He [Mohammed Salisu] has the qualities to thrive anywhere. He already knows the intensity and demands of the Premier League,” Mensah said.

“A return to what I consider the best league in the world would be beneficial for his career. But while he has options in Spain, Italy, or Germany, he also has the profile to shine there."

Salisu has so far made 26 appearances in all competitions this season with three goals to his credit. He has 19 caps with three goals for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

AS Monaco, who sit 3rd on the league log, will host Le Havre in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday at the Stade Oceane.
