Express FC's struggles continue as assistant coach Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba has stepped down from his role following the club's humiliating 7-0 defeat to Kitara FC, their heaviest league loss in history.

The crushing defeat surpassed their previous record, a 6-1 loss to Police FC during the 2019/20 season. Mutyaba, who joined Express FC in March this year under head coach Baker Mbowa, announced his resignation with immediate effect.

Before his stint at Express, Mutyaba coached Standard High Zzana and managed Nabbingo Young Football Club in the fourth division. He also served as assistant coach to Simon Peter Mugerwa at Buddu in last year’s Buganda Masaza Cup.

As a player, Mutyaba enjoyed an illustrious career with clubs like Vipers SC, Express FC, KCCA FC, Sudan’s El Merreick and DRC giants TP Mazembe. He represented Uganda at U-20, U-23, and senior levels with the Uganda Cranes.

Express FC, currently under interim head coach Badru Kaddu Mukasa, continues to face significant challenges in the Uganda Premier League.

Mukasa took over after Baker Mbowa's departure earlier this season and the club is now tasked with rebuilding amidst mounting pressure.
