Head coach of Botswana senior national male team, Morena Ramoreboli has named the nations that have a brighter chance of winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Morena, who hails from South Africa, believes the host nation will be the team to beat. He has also tipped North African powerhouses, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia as well as South Africa as strong contenders for the AFCON title.
“I think Morocco is the first favourite as the host country,” he told SuperSport TV. “They have a strong squad, passionate supporters, and will have the advantage of playing at home.”
“Maybe South Africa too. They showed their quality in the last tournament, and I believe they can challenge again.” “I am also banking on Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia. These are nations with rich footballing histories, and they always perform well in major tournaments.”
Botswana will be making only their second-ever appearance at AFCON, having last qualified in 2012. Ramoreboli and his squad will be aiming to make history and cause an upset in Morocco.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be between December 2025 and January 2026.
