Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has praised the youngsters who were given the chance to showcase their mettle against Accelerat8z fc in the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Fatao Seidu, 18, and 17-year-old Vitus Avoka were handed their debut against the second tier club in the round 32 of the competion at the Baba Yara Stadium. The duo gave a good account of themselves as the Porcupine Warriors managed to squeeze a 2-0 win over the Second Division club.

Prosper Narteh Ogum first gave rave reviews about the performance of the entire team before echoing the positive vibes about the young players who are products of the youth team.

“We focused on ourselves as to how we should go or how we should play in the game so we tried as much as possible to control the game because for them definitely they were going to come at us aggressively and that’s exactly what they did,” said Narteh Ogum.

“With respect to the young players, it was a good platform for them showcase what they are capable of doing. They did well and I’m sure as we give them or similar or same opportunities to exhibit what they have in them, it will boost their determination to work harder and get more playing time when such opportunities come their way.

“As a technical staff, we are happy with the youth players, what they played and then we also happy with the team, the way the team played and I’m sure people will want to see an avalanche of goals but in such games, it doesn’t happen that way because the most important thing is that we have won and we are moving into the next stage of competition.”

The record Ghana Premier League holders have now qualified for the round of the competition which they have won for nine times – three less than their rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.
