Former Orlando Pirates striker Jerry Sikhosana believes the team has all the ingredients required to beat rivals Mamelodi Sundowns during their Betway Premiership fixture on Saturday.
The two South African giants will face in a blockbuster clash on Saturday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. The top-notch encounter between the Gauteng rivals is undoubtedly the headlining act in the weekend’s football action.
According to Sikhosana, Pirates will win the top-of-the table clash.
“Pirates have what it takes to beat Sundowns, and I believe they will win on Saturday,” Sikhosana told iDiski Times. “[Miguel] Cardoso [the new Sundowns coach] is still trying new things there and you could tell that against Sibanye [in the Nedbank Cup] when they conceded two goals. That’s something that said to me Pirates should be able to beat them.
“And yes, I can put all my money on Pirates beating Sundowns this weekend. “For me, the key thing about the weekend’s match is for Pirates to beat Sundowns and hold them from pulling away. If they can do that, they have a great chance of winning the league.”
In games played in the country’s capital, the Brazilians have enjoyed a slight edge in the past decade winning eight of the 20 fixtures while the Buccaneers boast six wins with the other six matches finishing level.
