After successfully sealing their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup following a 3-1 quarter-final win against Stellenbosch FC, Kaizer Chiefs have shifted focus to the Betway Premiership where they have a date against Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

The domestic Cup win enabled Amakhosi to be drawn either with Mamelodi Sundowns or Sekhukhune United in the last four. However, Chiefs will be looking for a win against Cape Town City after losing their first round match played at the beginning of the year in Cape Town.

Before Saturday’s Nedbank Cup match, Chiefs beat Magesi 1-0 at FNB Stadium in their last league encounter. The Citizens, on the other hand, are very desperate as they have not won in eight matches, with their last win coming on January 17.

Despite Cape Town City’s poor run of results in the top-flight, Tunisian Nabi is not taking it lightly insisting they are strong opponent under a good manager in Muhsin Ertugral and that Chiefs must be very carefully to earn maximum points from the fixture.

“We've closed the chapter of the cup win and we now open the league chapter. This league game [against City] is important. I want the same spirit like the last game from my players; first, because City are a good team, forget their last few games where they've been struggling to win,'' Nabi said at Naturena as quoted by SowetanLive.

“Second, Muhsin Ertuğral beat me in Cape Town. Kaizer Chiefs need the points, so we have to play every game with a cup final spirit.”

The last time Cape Town City managed a league win was way back in January – a 2-1 win against Richards Bay. On the log Chiefs are in the eighth position with 28 points after 20 matches and the Citizens are 10th with 22 points after playing 21 games.
