Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed why he made a tactical change in their comeback 2-1 victory against Stellenbosch FC in an exciting Betway Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Khomotjo Lekoloane gave the visitors a 20th minute lead but Amakhosi were level before halftime thanks to Wandile Duba’s equaliser. The precociously talented forward then bagged the winner in the 57th minute, cuing an outpouring of elation amongst the Amakhosi faithful who had turned out in their numbers to participate in the festivities.

“Congratulations to the players, it’s not easy to come back from a goal down,” he told SuperSport TV as quoted by idiskitimes. “We started well the first five minutes, we had control but we noticed that there was a little bit confusion with the system of a back-three, which gave the opportunity to the opponent to take control of the game and to have even more possession.

“That’s why we made the tactical change by taking off the left-back and put on a winger. It’s not easy against such a good team like Stellenbosch to come back from behind, and to score two. That requires character, and today we had it.”

The result, and the manner in which it was achieved, provides a big boost to coach Nabi and the players and they will travel to Durban to face Lamontville Golden Arrows in their forthcoming Betway Premiership fixture on Sunday brimming with confidence and motivation to continue their climb up the league table.
