African duo, Nabil Bentaleb and Chuba Akpom combined forces to power Ligue 1 side, Lille to victory over Rennes in match week 22 on Sunday.

Bentaleb scored in Lille's 2-0 win at Rennes on Sunday in his first match since suffering a cardiac arrest last year. The Algeria international was once told he could no longer play but he was cleared by the French Football Federation to make a miraculous return to the field and he eventually scored on the 80th minute mark.

Nigeria and former Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom sealed the win on 86 minutes to lift Lille up to fifth in Ligue 1 standings. Lille manager, Bruno Genesio gave rave reviews about Bentaleb. "It's worthy of a film," said Genesio.

"He deserved it, because I don't believe in luck, he believed in himself. "It's an incredible, wonderful story. "Nabil's goal put us on cloud nine, it's hard to describe. It could be a moment that will mark the end of our season, that will remain engraved in the history of the club, of this season - and in Nabil's mind, of course."

Akpom, 29, on the hand has played two league matches with two goals to his credit this season since joining Lille on loan from Ajax.
