Nations FC doubled their chances of winning the Ghana Premier League with a victory over record title holders Asante Kotoko at the Dr. Kyei Sports Complex last Sunday.

The Abrankese-based club now sit second on 51 points, two behind leaders Gold Stars after goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Yaw Annor earned them a 2-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors in week 28.

The team heads into week 29 away to former champions, Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park and head coach, Kassim Mingle remains confident of their title chances. Mingle asserts that, they are ready to win the title and represent Ghana in continental football next season.

“We are ever ready to win the league. All the teams participating are aiming at the ultimate. No one is participating for participating’s sake. We’ve prepared for everything, and we know we can win. And when we do, we are prepared for Africa,” he said after the game.

Nations’ recent form has been impressive, with victories over top sides including Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tuba astro turf. The victory against Kotoko was their fifth straight win in the competition with six matches left to play.
