AmaZulu FC co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has revealed their desire to go all the way and win this season’s Nedbank Cup.
According to Vilakazi, who took over with Arthur Zwane as joint coaches in October, their ambitions is to win the trophy which he said will be a major achievement and use it as a path to represent South Africa in the Caf Confederation Cup for next season.
“So, I think we are on the right track; obviously, we are taking the Nedbank Cup very seriously,” said Vilakazi as quoted by FARPost. “The reason we’re doing that is that I think it’s one stone for two birds in terms of making sure that we win the cup and compete in Africa, and also [it would be] an achievement for the club, obviously. So that’s why we want to go as much as we can in terms of making sure that we win.”
On facing Marumo Gallants in the Round of 16, Vilakazi said: “I think we will also rely on that [strong away record] because, looking at our records, we are doing very well when we are playing away. But also not relying on that only, but we have to work hard. At the end of the day, if you want to win or grind results, you must work very hard.
“But I think with the confidence that we have on the team and everyone who is available, they want to participate in the game against Marumo. So I think we will go there for a kill because that’s what we want to do.”
The match against Marumo will be played at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday.
