Chippa United coach Thabo September believes they have what it takes to eliminated Kaizer Chiefs when they face off in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 fixture at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
While Chiefs are currently placed sixth in the Betway Premiership table with 25 points from 17 matches, Chippa United are lying 11th with 18 points from 15 outings.
“It's a cup game so it's a once-off game, so we need to approach it with the right mentality and make sure that we play well, and give our all in that 90 minutes,” said September as quoted by SABC Sports.
“We need to make sure we capitalise on the opportunities that we create, and be stubborn and also selfish in terms of conceding goals. So we have a good plan on what we need to do, and playing against a big team like Kaizer Chiefs is a great opportunity for these players to showcase their talent.”
He added: “The team looks good, except Sergio [Kammies] who is suspended, but the rest of the team looks good, so we've got a good pool that we can select from against Chiefs.
“So I think we just need to go out there and show the good talents that we have, express ourselves well and, besides the tactics, we need to come out of our shells and just play our football.
“We need to make sure we do the things that we need to do right, and that the players are playing to their strengths.”
In the round of 32 stage, Chiefs faced Free Agents, a team from the second division of South African football, winning decisively with a score of 4-0 just over a fortnight ago.
This will be the second meeting between Chiefs and Chippa United this season, following their encounter in late December at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, in which Amakhosi secured all three points after winning 1-0.
