Chippa United head coach Thabo September has urged his players to go all out against Kaizer Chiefs in their Round of 16 tie from the Nedbank Cup.
September, who has filled the coaching vacuum at Chippa United following the sudden exit of Kwanele Kopo in December, is looking to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament for the first time as a head coach.
Having won the Nedbank Cup three times during his playing days with SuperSport United, the former centre-back is very much aware of the opportunity presenting itself against a formidable side like Amakhosi.
"It's a cup game so it's a once-off game, so we need to approach it with the right mentality and make sure that we play well, and give our all in that 90 minutes," September told SuperSport.
"We need to make sure we capitalise on the opportunities that we create, and be stubborn and also selfish in terms of conceding goals.
"So we have a good plan on what we need to do, and playing against a big team like Kaizer Chiefs is a great opportunity for these players to showcase their talent."
"The team looks good, except Sergio [Kammies] who is suspended, but the rest of the team looks good, so we've got a good pool that we can select from against Chiefs," he added.
"So I think we just need to go out there and show the good talents that we have, express ourselves well and, besides the tactics, we need to come out of our shells and just play our football.
"We need to make sure we do the things that we need to do right, and that the players are playing to their strengths."
Chippa United will be the guests of Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
