Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has said his side is now adopting a winning mentality following a solid performance in the 3-0 win over Chippa United on Saturday.

The Tunisian said this following the victory courtesy of forward Gaston Sirino’s first-half strike then defender Ignacio Miguel and midfielder Pule Mmondi’s goals in the last 13 minutes of the Nedbank Cup round-of-16.

“We are starting to have a very big mindset in the team; a collective mindset into how to look for a victory and how to play together,” the former Yanga SC boss told the press at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Nabi, who has been under pressure for the better part of his debut season in South Africa, attributed the emphatic victory to collective defending and attacking.

“It is a very good win against a very difficult Chippa team. We feel that after the first goal, we lost control of the game but we rectified this in the second half which was way better in terms of controlling the game offensively and defensively,” he said.

Chiefs joined holders and rivals Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinals after the Buccaneers beat Baroka FC 3-1 while Marumo Gallants were 1-0 winners over AmaZulu FC. Lower league side Galaxy City are also through to the last eight phase after stunning fancied TS Galaxy 2-1.
