Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has discussed the mood in camp as they prepare to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semi-final of the Nedbank Cup at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season, with the Tshwane side having dominated their previous encounters, winning all three matches. The stakes are high for Amakhosi, who are two games away from breaking their decade-long trophy drought, and have their sights firmly set on ending this barren spell.

“To be honest with you I can’t say that we are in a good situation,” said Nabi as quoted by idiskitimes. “I think the last three games were so difficult for us because from the beginning we always had problems when playing against teams that we are normally better than.

“So always we find a problem when we play against this kind of teams but we discussed to see what’s the problem, to find the problem and to try to correct the situation. We get a lot of meetings between the players and us but us as the technical bench we try to analyse the situation. But to be honest with you now actually we are in a good way. That’s in the past we discussed about it, we tried to solve it and now we can concentrate on the future.

After tomorrow we have a game against Sundowns. I think we played against Cape Town [City], we played against Golden Arrows, we played against Richards Bay normally we must get nine points in these three games.”

He continued: “We were thinking a lot about these games but I think we take responsibility if we don’t win this game. Like I said we analysed all the situations but it’s between us and the players we know what’s the situation and we are finished discussing about what happened before. We are now only thinking about Sunday’s game against Sundowns in the Nedbank semi-final.”

This match will be the second Cup fixture between the two teams in the current domestic campaign following their encounter in the Carling Knock-out Cup last November.

Although Amakhosi have been struggling to find form in their recent four-match winless streak, Sunday’s clash presents an opportunity to get back to winning ways.
