After easily winning their respective round of 32 matches of the Nedbank Cup, defending champions Orlando Pirates rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have learnt of their next opponents in the domestic Cup competition.
Pirates, who kicked off their title defence with a 3-1 win against Richards Bay, will face the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC, according to the draw which took place on Wednesday, 29 January at the SuperSport studios.
Amakhosi, who qualified after thumping minnows Free Agents 4-0 will come up against Betway Premiership rivals Chippa United while Sundowns were drawn to take on second-tier outfit Mpheni Home Defenders.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United will host Cape Town Spurs, Marumo Gallants will come up against AmaZulu FC, Sekhukhune United will travel to face either Royal AM or Milford FC while Stellenbosch will be at home against Polokwane City. Plenty of uncertainty surrounds the Royal AM/Milford FC match with a forfeit appearing likely for Royal AM due to the Betway Premiership club's ongoing financial problems.
The Pirates game will see the prestigious competition returning to Orlando Stadium for the first time since the Buccaneers hosted Baroka’s ABC Motsepe Championship rivals Hungry Lions at a similar stage on their way to picking up their 10th title.
