Stellenbosch FC joined fellow Betway Premiership side SuperSport United in the quarterfinals of South Africa's Nedbank Cup after Stellies defeated fellow top flight side Polowane City 2-0 on Thursday.

The Western Cape side were in control at the Danie Craven Stadium, getting off to a strong start against a dangerous opponent in Polokwane, who currently sit third place in the top flight. In the 12th minute, Godswill Kazie swung in a cross that star attacker Devin Titus failed to connect with but the ball skipped off Polokwane defender Bulelani Nikani and into his own goal.

Titus showed much more finishing prowess in the 37th minute when he arrived to fire in from a clever cutback by Khomotjo Lekoloane, dealing a devastating blow to visitors Polokwane. The club from Limpopo province are starting to show signs of fatigue and loss of form as Stellies were well in control throughout.

Second tier side Durban City host Premiership club TS Galaxy in the lone cup match tomorrow before three matches on Saturday which will feature Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as well as Durban's AmaZulu. Mamelodi Sundowns are scheduled to play on Sunday against third tier club Mpheni Home Defenders.
