Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango has revealed the club’s desire to go all the way and lift the Nedbank Cup title this season.
The Brazilians will return to action for their rescheduled quarter-final clash against fellow Betway Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United on Friday at the Lucas Moripe Stadim, with the hopes to march on to the semi-final round.
In Bafana Ba Style’s last match before the break, they were handed their third loss of the season by rivals Orlando Pirates after losing 2-1 in the league. Meanwhile, Babina Noko, suffered the same fate against Stellenbosch FC.
“The preparations are going well. Of course, we would have loved to play a couple of weeks back. Once again, we are looking forward to the game, even though some guys were in their respective national teams, they will come and join us in the last stages of preparing for this game,” the former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper told the club’s official website.
On his messages to Sundowns fans, Onyango said: “To our faithful supporters, please come out in numbers on Friday night to support the boys. We need to go all the way to the final of the Nedbank Cup and we are relying on your support to make it happen. Please come and paint the Lucas Moripe Stadium Yellow.”
Masandawana will be meeting a Sekhukhune United side whom they have already met twice this season. In the last meeting between the two sides, Downs traveled to Polokwane to defeat their counterparts 4-2 in what was a very tight and exciting encounter and will be looking to repeat matters when they host them in Atteridgeville.
