Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed the return of Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to face Manchester United in Friday’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round fixture at Old Trafford.

The Super Eagle was injured during the game against Brighton after he collided with Joao Pedro on December 8, 2024 in the fixture that ended in a 2-2 draw. Ndidi has gone ahead two miss 10 matches in all competitions.

He missed in action as Leicester suffered a 4-0 defeat against Newcastle United, 3-0 defeat against Wolves, 3-1 defeat against Liverpool, 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, 6-2 win over QPR in the third round of the FA Cup, 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace and 2-0 defeat against Fulham.

Ndidi further missed the 2-1 victory against Tottenham and the 4-0 defeat against Everton.

“Wilf is fine,” Van Nistelrooy told reporters on Thursday. “He had a great week of training, last week and this week. He’ll be part of the squad tomorrow (Friday).

“There’s a couple [of players] with some light injuries. They will be assessed today if they can travel or not. There’s two or three with light injuries who are doubtful tomorrow. We’ll see when we announce the squad.”

The return of Ndidi will be a huge boost for Nigeria ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
