Nigeria’s Moses Simon named Nantes Player of the Month for December

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon is has been named FC Nantes’ player of the month for December.


Simon got 44% of the votes to edge three other teammates for the award. “You have designated Moses Simon, author of a magnificent goal against Rennes, as the "Canary of the Month" for the month of December 2024,” confirmed a statement on the club’s official website.


“With 44% of the votes, Moses Simon is your Canary of the Month for December 2024. The Nigerian striker will receive his trophy before the FC Nantes - AS Monaco match, the Canaries' next encounter at La Beaujoire, Friday January 10, 2025 (7pm).


“Congratulations Moses.”


Simon has played in the vast majority of the Nante’s Ligue 1 games in 2024/2025, making 14 appearances overall and accumulating 1,187 minutes of playing time. He has been selected in the starting XI in all 14 of these appearances across their 15 fixtures.


The Super Eagle last featured in a league match on December 15 for Nantes against Brest. He created one assist in that game for his club in the team's 4-1 defeat. The attacker has scored four Ligue 1 goals this season, whilst he also ranks joint second for Ligue 1 assists this season having set up five goals for his team-mates.


He has been shown one yellow card. Simon was last on target in the league in the 1-0 win against Rennes on December 8, netting in the 89th minute. He opened his account for the campaign against Auxerre on August 25, scoring during a 2-0 victory.


A trip to Lille on January 4 is the next Ligue 1 game for Nantes.
