Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman has bagged the December Goal of the Month for Italian giants Atalanta.
According to the club’s official website, this is the first time the Super Eagle is winning the award. He was rewarded for his goal in La Dea’s UEFA Champions League clash against holders Real Madrid on December 10.
“The race for the final golazo of 2024 saw the Nigerian step into the shoes of the "Grinch," with a distinctly Nerazzurri twist: Mola didn’t just “steal the show” from Charles De Ketelaere, leaving the Belgian "on the brink" of becoming the first to pull off an incredible "double," but he also “won over” the hearts of Atalanta fans, who rewarded his ice-cold composure (a perfect pun, given the month…) in front of goal during the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid on December 10th,” read part of the statement.
With fans voting on social media, Lookman garnered 46% to triumph, while Charles de Ketelaere came second with 38% following his goal for Atalanta in the 3-2 win against Empoli in a Serie A fixture.
Tommaso Del Lungo came third with 11% votes following his goal in the 3-2 defeagt against Padova while Andrea Bonanomi, came fourth with 4% after his goal in the 3-2 defeat against Juventus.
So far this season, Lookman has managed 17 appearances in Serie A, notching nine goals and providing five assists.
