Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen scored in a second successive league game to help Galatasaray defeat Konyaspor 1-0 in a Turkish Super Lig fixture at at RAMS Park on Saturday.
In a game of few chances, the Super Eagle finally broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when he beat a Konyaspor defender to the ball in the penalty area and was tripped up. Following a VAR review, Osimhen stepped up once again to slot it past the stretching hands of goalkeeper Jakub Słowik.
Osimhen had other chances in the game to double Galatasaray’s lead but he missed two clear cut chances in the 34th and 37th minutes.
He had a glancing header which went off the post after a good delivery from Yunus Akgun while the other chance was a powerful shot from outside the box, which went inches wide.
The win enabled Galatasaray to cement their lead at the top of the table with 54 points from 24 matches. They have managed 17 wins, three draws and are yet to lose a game.
In the previous league game against Antalyaspor, Osimhen was on target as Galatasaray floored the home side 3-0 at New Antalya Stadium.
Osimhen has now notched 12 Super Lig goals since moving from Napoli at the start of the season, and provided four assists from 15 matches.
