Nigeria’s Super Falcons versatile attacker Blessing Augustine Nkor has signed for Women's Spanish Primera strugglers, Deportivo La Coruña, on a short-term contract.
The Spanish team unveiled Nkor on Wednesday after she signed a contract for the rest of the season from Egypt’s Pyramids FC.
“Dépor ABANCA strengthens its offensive side with the arrival until the end of the season of Blessing Augustine Nkor, known in football as Blessing Nkor," Coruña’s statement reads.
“She arrives from Pyramids FC and in the 2023-2024 season she played in Turkey's top flight with Gaziantep Asya Spor, where she scored 12 goals.”
The 21-year-old Nkor, who debuted for Nigeria last November in friendlies against France, is seen as a replacement for Venezuelan Oriana Altuve who parted ways with the Spanish side last month.
Deportivo La Coruña are fighting for survival in the 16-member women’s league for Spain, lying third from bottom with 12 points from 15 games, six points ahead of basement side Valencia. Barcelona women’s team lead with 48 points.
