Nile League: Al Ahly wins second consecutive match in defeat of in form Petrojet

Matchday 12 of the Nile Egyptian League saw three encounters, with Al Ahly, Pharco, and Ghazl El Mahalla securing victories.


Al Ahly continues revival with win over Petrojet


Al Ahly extended their winning streak in the league with a 2-1 victory over Petrojet.


Emam Ashour opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a strike from outside the penalty area. New signing Nejc Gradisar doubled the lead in the 67th minute, converting a low cross from young player Mohamed Abdallah inside the six-yard box.


Ahmed Farouk pulled one back for Petrojet in the 95th minute with a header, but it was too late to change the outcome as Al Ahly secured their second consecutive league victory.



Emam Ashour is now the league’s top scorer with 7 goals and has netted 9 times in his last 7 matches across all competitions. Meanwhile, Nejc Gradisar has scored in each of his three league matches since joining in January.

Al Ahly moves to the top with 26 points, two points ahead of Pyramids, who still have a game to play.


Petrojet sits seventh with 17 points.


Pharco continues to win and this time against Ceramica Cleopatra


Pharco secured their second straight league win, defeating Ceramica Cleopatra 2-1.


Amr Nasser put Pharco ahead in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a deflected ball that fell to him inside the box.


Islam Issa equalized for Ceramica in the 28th minute with a well-placed header before Mohamed Fakhry sealed victory for Pharco in the 51st minute with a precise shot from the edge of the area.



Pharco wins today after three consecutive winless games, while Ceramica Cleopatra has now suffered back-to-back league defeats.

Ceramica Cleopatra is fifth with 19 points.


Pharco climbs to sixth with 18 points.


Ghazl El Mahalla ends losing streak with victory over Modern Sport


Ghazl El Mahalla ended their five-match losing streak in the league with a 2-1 home win against Modern Sport.


Amr El Gazzar gave Mahalla an early lead in the 11th minute, pouncing on a loose ball after a goalkeeper try. Mohamed Helal equalized for Modern Sport from the penalty spot in the 40th minute.


Tunisian forward Mohamed Ali Ben Hammouda secured the win with a header in the 81st minute. This victory marked Mahalla's first home win of the season and was also in the first game under new head coach Nikodimos Papavasiliou, following the departure of Shawky Gharib. Meanwhile, Modern Sport have now lost their third straight match.

Ghazl El Mahalla is 15th with 11 points.


Modern Sport remains 17th (second from bottom) with 7 points.
