In a dramatic showdown, Al Ahly snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Pyramids in the second round of the Nile Egyptian League title phase.

Al Ahly nearly opened the scoring at the end of the first half when Wissam Abou Ali’s header struck the crossbar in stoppage time. The momentum tilted in Al Ahly’s favor in the 57th minute when Pyramids were reduced to ten men following a second yellow card shown to midfielder Mohanad Lasheen.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the league leaders stunned their opponents in the 85th minute. Moroccan right back Mohamed Chibi broke the deadlock with an excellent effort from outside the box.

But Al Ahly refused to give up. Deep into injury time, midfielder Ahmed Reda salvaged a point for the Red Devils with a well-placed shot from the edge of the area in the 96th minute.

The match was officiated by a Dutch refereeing crew, appointed upon Al Ahly’s request for a foreign officiating team.

With this result, Pyramids maintained their unbeaten run in the league, now stretching to 15 matches. Their last defeat came in Round 4, a 1-0 loss to Al Masry.

Current Standings After the Match:

1. Pyramids – 44 points

2. Al Ahly – 40 points
