Nile League: Pyramids held; Shady Hussein hat-trick sparks ZED victory

The first round of the Nile Egyptian League's title-deciding phase and relegation battle continued with three matches taking place today.


Championship Group


Pyramids 0-0 Al Masry


Pyramids FC dropped two points in their opening game of the title-deciding phase after being held to a goalless draw against Al Masry. Ibrahim Adel appeared to give Pyramids the lead on the half hour mark but his goal was disallowed.




Neither side managed to find the back of the net throughout the match, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate. With the draw, Pyramids extended their unbeaten run to 20 matches which includes seventeen wins and three draws.


The reverse fixture earlier this season saw Al Masry claim a 1-0 victory.


Current Standings – Championship Group


1. Pyramids FC – 43 points (maintains the top spot, 4 points ahead of Al Ahly)


4. Al Masry – 31 points


Pharco 2-1 National Bank


Pharco secured a 2-1 victory over National Bank in the title-deciding group.


National Bank took the lead in the 53rd minute through a penalty converted by Osama Faisal. This goal propelled Faisal to the top of the league’s scoring charts with 9 goals, tying with Al Ahly’s Emam Ashour.


Pharco equalized in the 70th minute through Yassin Marei, who converted a ball inside the penalty area into the net. Amr Nasser sealed the win for Pharco in the 89th minute with a precise strike from outside the box.


This defeat ended National Bank's unbeaten streak of eight matches across the league and cup competitions. The first leg encounter between National Bank and Pharco earlier in the season ended in a goalless draw.

Relegation Battle Group


Ghazl El Mahalla 0-3 ZED


ZED FC earned a 3-0 away victory over Ghazl El Mahalla in their first match under new head coach Hamada Sedky.


Shady Hussein opened the scoring in the 30th minute after capitalizing on a rebound from the Mahalla goalkeeper. Just before halftime (48’), Hussein doubled ZED's lead with a solo effort.


Hussein completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute, pouncing on a goalkeeping error to slot the ball into the net. This takes his tally to 6 goals this season, three behind joint top scorers Osama Faisal and Emam Ashour (9 goals each).



After this victory, ZED achieved just their second win in the last 11 matches.


The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 victory for ZED earlier this season.
