Round 16 of the Nile Egyptian League continued with three clashes which featured a dramatic comeback, goals from two of the league's top scorers and a strong managerial debut.
Zamalek 1-1 ZED
Zamalek registered their third consecutive league draw, this time at home against ZED following previous stalemates against Al Ahly and Petrojet.
ZED took the lead in the 25th minute through Mostafa Ziko, who fired home from inside the box. However, Zamalek responded in the dying moments of the first half as Nasser Mansi equalized with a header from an Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" corner kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
With this goal, Mansi reached eight league goals this season, leaving him level with Osama Faisal (National Bank, 8 goals) and Emam Ashour (Al Ahly, 9 goals).
After this draw, Zamalek remains third with 29 points, while Zed is in the 10th place with 20 points.
Al Masry 3-0 Smouha
Anis Boujelbene had a perfect start to his tenure as Al Masry’s head coach, guiding his team to a 3-0 victory over Smouha in his first match in charge.
Salah Mohsen opened the scoring early in the 5th minute, converting a cross from Amr El Saadawy. Mohsen doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time with a precise strike from outside the box after receiving a pass from Abderrahim Daghmoum, who skillfully dribbled past multiple opponents.
The final goal came from new signing John Ebuka, who scored with a header in the 91st minute. The Nigerian striker joined Al Masry earlier this month from Ceramica Cleopatra on a permanent transfer.
This win ended a three-match winless streak for Al Masry, while Smouha suffered their third straight league defeat after previously winning four of their last six games.
Current Standings:
Al Masry: 4th place, 27 points
Smouha: 13th place, 17 points
Tala’ea El Gaish 2-2 National Bank
A thrilling comeback saw National Bank rescue a dramatic 2-2 draw against Tala’ea El Gaish.
The hosts took the lead with a first-half goal from Hamed Khaled El Gabry, who finished a cross from Khaled Awad in the 27th minute. Yousry Wahid doubled the lead in the 58th minute.
However, National Bank refused to surrender, launching a late comeback. Osama Faisal reduced the deficit in the 84th minute with a strike inside the box. Then, in the 101st minute, Ahmed Yasser Rayan converted a penalty for his third goal in the last five matches to secure a point for his side.
Osama Faisal’s great form continues as he has now scored four goals in his last three matches. Faisal also climbed to second place in the Nile League's top scorers' chart with eight goals, just one behind Emam Ashour (9 goals).
National Bank remains unbeaten in their last six league matches.
