Orlando Pirates have confirmed the return of Nkosinathi Sibisi as they prepare to face rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership Soweto derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The defender missed Pirates last league fixture through suspension picked up through an accumulation of yellow cards. A statement from Pirates confirmed the return of the key player as they plan to carry the bragging rights in the derby.
“A noteworthy boost for the home side comes in the form of defender Nkosinathi Sibisi, who is again eligible for selection. The defender sat out the trip to KZN, serving out his one-match suspension picked up through an accumulation of yellow cards,’ read part of the statement.
The statement continued: “Pirates have had some activity of their own in the recently-concluded transfer window with Katlego Otladisa and Gilberto both out on loan at Sekhukhune United and Petro de Luanda, respectively.”
Speaking ahead of the derby, Sibisi said: “Consistency is key when it comes to this such games, we're hoping to win surely we are prepared for anything, they're a good side with some immense talent but we remain humble and continue with our gameplay.”
Last season, Pirates took the derby's bragging rights after beating Chiefs home and away. They won the first round meeting 1-0 before sealing a double with a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture.
The Buccaneers were away to Richards Bay for their Nedbank Cup opener and returned with a straightforward 3-1 victory.
