Al Ahly SC has announced the official signing of Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki on a free transfer.
The contract between Al Ahly and Bencharki will run for two-and-a-half seasons starting from the end of January.
The Moroccan winger's last stint was with Qatari club Al Rayyan but his contract was terminated by mutual consent, with the player opting to pay the release clause to facilitate his departure.
Bencharki, who joined Al Rayyan in September 2023 on a free transfer from Al Jazira (UAE), made 44 appearances for the Qatari club scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists.
The 30-year-old is no stranger to Egyptian football, having previously been a player for Zamalek from July 2019 until July 2022. Bencharki produced 26 goals and 14 assists in 73 league Egyptian Premier League appearances for Al Ahly's fiercest rival. During his time with the White Knights he enjoyed great success, winning the CAF Super Cup, two Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups and the Egyptian Super Cup.
Bencharki’s arrival marks the Red Devils’ fourth addition in this window, following the acquisitions of Slovenian striker Nejc Gradišar from Hungarian side Fehérvár FC on a permanent transfer, defender Mostafa El Aash from ZED FC on loan, and midfielder Ahmed Reda from Petrojet on a permanent deal.
Al Ahly has also secured the services of Egyptian international Mahmoud Trezeguet, who currently plays for Al Rayyan on loan from Trabzonspor. The club has finalized an agreement for his permanent transfer starting in June.
Additionally, midfielder Hamdi Fathi is set to rejoin Al Ahly on loan from Al Wakrah (Qatar) specifically for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
