Swiss coach Nora Hauptle has decided to leave he post as the head coach of Ghana’s senior female national team following the expiration of her contract.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the appointment of Hauptle as the manager of the Black Queens to replace Ghana’s Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo who had been at the helm since 2019.

The astute female coach decided against renewing her contract with the West African nation after it ran out on December 31, 2024. Hauptle qualified the Black Queens for the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco later this year.

However, she lost out on qualifying the Queens for the Olympics Games after losing to Zambia's Cooper Queens. Concrete reports indicate that, Hauptle is expected to be appointed as the head coach for Zambia's Cooper Queens where she is expected to sign a two-year deal.

The vacuum created by Nora Hauptle’s exit throws the Ghana FA into the market in search of a new coach to steer the Black Queens to the 2025 WAFCON.
