Kenya international Michael Olunga scored what proved to make the difference as Al Duhail SC defeated Al Khor 1-0 in a Qatar Stars League fixture at Al-Khwar Stadium on Friday.

The towering Harambee Stars captain rose to the occasion in the second half of the game, as he tapped home a cross from Homam Ahmed in the 68th minute after goalkeeper Ali Nader Mahmoud Karim had left his line.

In a surprise move by coach Christophe Galtier, Olunga started from the bench with Ismail Mohamad leading the attacking role with former Chelsea player Hakim Ziyech playing behind him.

The former Gor Mahia striker was introduced at the start of the second half for Mohamad and he went ahead to score the only goal of the game. Ziyech was also withdrawn in the 70th minute for Edmilson Junior.

Olunga has not had a prolific season by his very high standards with his goal ending a run of three games without scoring. He concluded the season with 12 goals from 19 matches and two assists to his name.

Meanwhile, Duhail finished the season second with 50 points from 22 matches while Al-Sadd topped with 52 points.
