Big money Manchester City signing Omar Marmoush described his Manchester City debut in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Chelsea in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium as "amazing".
The Egypt national team star came close to scoring at the Etihad Stadium only two days after completing his transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old has since reflected on his first appearance for the Premier League champions as amazing, according to City's website.
“Yeah, it was an amazing debut. I’m happy to be here. The debut was nice. We won the game and it was a crazy atmosphere out there. I’m so happy to be here. Hopefully, I will keep going that way. It is just the beginning and here’s to many more wins,” he said,
The Citizens seemed headed for yet another defeat when Noni Madueke scored after profiting from another debutant defender Abdukodir Khusanov’s sloppy backward header which the visitors forward intercepted to score the opener.
However, the hosts showed resilience as they equalised through Josko Gvardiol minutes before half-time after which Haaland and Phil Foden sealed the three points with second half strikes.
Marmoush's potential did not go unnoticed by his teammates with City star striker Erling Haaland joining the chorus in expressing optimism about what the 25-year-old can bring:
"I think especially in the first half you can see he has something special. There is a reason City brought him; because he has something special...it’s about getting to know him as soon as possible because there are so many important games coming. It’s about giving him confidence and he’s going to be a fantastic player for us," the Norwegian hitman said to Sky Sports following the match.
The defending champions have since moved into fourth place, a distant 12 points from leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
