Ugandan duo Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka celebrated their first silverware with APR FC after the Rwandan giants triumphed 4-2 in penalties over Police FC to win the 2025 Heroes Cup on Saturday.
The game ended in a goalless draw after normal and extra time at the Kigali Pele Stadium, setting the stage for a dramatic penalty shootout. Both Omedi and Kiwanuka were once again named in the starting lineup, before they were both substituted late in the second half.
The victory marks a promising start for the Ugandan duo in their first few matches for APR FC, who also secured a 2-0 win over AS Kigali in the semi-finals earlier this week to make it to the final.
Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga was an unused substitute for APR FC while the Police FC side featured two other Ugandans, Allan Kateregga and Ashraf Mandela who played the full 120 minutes.
Left-back Eric Ssenjobe, however, was not included in the matchday squad. This win marks a great achievement for Omedi and Kiwanuka, who are quickly settling into their new team and are expected to continue making an impact as the season progresses.
