After a hectic week that saw him at the center of attention for all the wrong reasons, Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana has been dropped for Manchester United's Premier League clash at Newcastle on Sunday.
Despite a satisfying 2-2 first leg result at Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals, Onana's performance left many supporters in anger as his up-and-down spell at the club continues. The former Ajax and Inter Milan shot stopper was criticized for disappointing on both of Lyon's goals and it appears that his status at United is in serious jeopardy moving forward.
Turkish international Altay Bayındır has gotten the call to make his Premier League debut while Onana was left off the matchday squad entirely. United coach Ruben Amorim has instead decided to leave veteran Tom Heaton as his backup for Sunday's clash. Bayındır has been limited to six appearances this season between the domestic cup competitions and the Europa League.
