Reigning Turkish Süper Lig champions Galatasaray continued their title-winning pace on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Göztepe at the Rams Park in Istanbul.
Nigeria national team superstar Victor Osimhen made it four goals in his last six matches, opening the scoring with a penalty kick conversion in the 10th minute. The 26-year-old marksman fired in after a foul was committed in the Göztepe penalty area.
The visitors, enjoying a strong season in 5th place, managed to equalize later in the first half but fell to defeat after Yunus Akgun's second half winner for Galatasaray who lead rivals Fenerbahçe by eleven points at the top of the table. The 24-time Turkish league champions return to action on Wednesday with a cup tie against İstanbul Başakşehir.
Osimhen now has 10 goals in 3 assists in 12 matches since joining on loan from Napoli, tied for third most in the Turkish top division behind DR Congo striker Simon Banza and Krzysztof Piatek. The Super Eagles goal getter also has 3 goals in 4 UEFA Europa League matches.
