Zambian striker Patson Daka scored to hand new Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy a 3-1 winning start over West Ham United in a Premier League match on Tuesday.

Daka, who returned from injury weeks ago, outpaced his marker and squeezed a rising left-footed shot between goalkeeper Lucas Fabianski and the near-post much to the delight of the Manchester United legend Van Nistelrooy.

The Zambian netted in the 90th minute, adding to Jamie Vardy’s second minute and Bilal El Khannoss’ 61st-minutes goals at the King Power Stadium where the visitors’ consolation came from Niclas Fullkrug three minutes into added time.

Daka featured in the starting line-up for Leicester alongside another Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi whereas West Ham had Ghanaian attacker Mohammed Kudus. It was the Chipolopolo striker's 10th Premier League goal, the first player from Southern Africa to hit double-digit figures in over a decade.

The first win since mid-October pushed the Foxes up to 15th position on the log table, one point behind the14th-placed Hammers who have now suffered back-to-back defeats to pile the pressure on coach Julen Lopetegui after Saturday’s 5-3 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.
