Zamalek head coach José Peseiro held a press conference to discuss the upcoming match against Modern Sport in the Egypt Cup.

Zamalek will face Modern Sport in the Egypt Cup round of 16 on Friday at 7:30 PM GMT.

In the press conference, Peseiro stated: "Zamalek is a team that fights for all championships. We aim to win the Egypt Cup, starting with tomorrow’s match against Modern Sport. Our opponent managed to defeat us in the first round of the league, so we must have determination, commitment, and focus. Every player must give 100% effort on the pitch, and we need to develop our playing style."

The head coach added: "We are keen on evaluating the players' conditions and selecting the most prepared ones for tomorrow’s match against Modern Sport. We cannot think about any other match except this one. In the previous game, we made some adjustments, including resting Abdullah El-Said from the start. I need to assess the players’ readiness to avoid injuries until the end of the season. Any player who gets injured at this stage might not return quickly to the squad."

Peseiro continued: "The return of Zizo and Shehata for the upcoming match against Modern is great. On the other hand, Ahmed Al-Jefali's injury is unfortunate, especially at the beginning of his journey with the team. His absence is a loss for the coaching staff and the squad, as he is an important player for Zamalek. The medical staff is highly competent and is working hard to help him return to training as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we are preparing with the available players for tomorrow’s game."

The Zamalek coach further explained: "Losing to Modern Sport in the first round of the league will serve as motivation for my team. Naturally, there is pressure on my players because they are representing a big club like Zamalek. However, they are eager to win tomorrow’s match and restore their pride."

Peseiro emphasized that the Egypt Cup match against Modern Sport is different from league matches, as there must be a winner. He confirmed that Zamalek is entering the game with the goal of winning and advancing to the next round of the tournament.

He added: "Since my arrival, there have been injured players in the squad. Mahmoud Jihad got injured afterward, and now Al-Jefali has recently suffered an injury. These injuries might be due to the players needing time to adapt, especially those coming from different leagues and the ones who joined in the winter transfer window. The medical staff is doing its job perfectly with the injured players. Moreover, we cannot increase the training load during Ramadan, considering the busy match schedule. Instead, we raise the workload for players who are not participating regularly."

Peseiro concluded: "I prefer Zamalek matches to be played with fan attendance, and we have missed them in the last two games. The players must give their best effort to avoid suspensions."01:13 PM
