"We don't just go into any competitions to (make up the number)," Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile proclaimed regarding his team's ambitions at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
"I expect Sundowns to get out of the group stage."
Shalulile laid down the challenge to his teammates in an interview with FIFA.com ahead of the newly revamped Club World Cup, which resembles the FIFA World Cup with 32 participating clubs.
It is not an unreasonable expectation for the South African champions who qualified for the CAF Champions League final last Friday. Facing one of the tamer groups in the competition, Masandawana are grouped with Brazil's Fluminense, German club Borussia Dortmund and Ulsan HD (formerly Ulsan Hyundai) of South Korea.
In his interview, the Namibian hitman explained the mentality that creates a successful striker:
"You are never satisfied. You just want to score goals, every day you just want to score goals...Showcasing that talent, on that level is a massive, massive achievement because you'll be going into the (history) books. Knowing that this is a player from Namibia, from South Africa, from Sundowns, who scored in a FIFA Club World Cup."
Shalulile and Sundowns will begin their Club World Cup on June 17 against Ulsan HD.
