Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has said his side is bracing for a tough encounter against Cape Town City led by their experienced interim coach Mushin Etrugral Wednesday.
He said this as the Buccaneers head into the Betway Premiership match against the Citizens at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
“It is another opportunity for our team to get three points. It is not an easy game. [They have] a very experienced coach, new tactics and new energy from the opponents and they have big motivation from their previous result,” he said.
Ncikazi added that the only way for them to prevail over the Cape Town side was by building on their emphatic 3-0 home win over Stade d’Abidjan of Ivory Coast in the CAF Champions League group stage over the weekend.
“We just focus on the next match to try and improve the performance. The best of us should get three points,” he said.
City stunned Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a Betway Premiership match last weekend to hand Etrugral a winning start to his temporary reign. He was appointed technical director last week while also serving as a caretaker coach to fill the void created by Eric Tinkler’s sacking.
The new coach has a tough assignment to improve the performance of the team that lies in 12th place, just above the relegation zone, 15 points behind the second-placed Pirates. The Buccaneers can go level with leaders Mamelodi Sundowns if they win on Wednesday.
